She succumbed to exploring the world but is she prepared explore alone? Is she prepared to embrace the ups and downs? Was she prepared to fall in love with a man way beyond her dreams?
🍃She walks with a steady confident step to the class room she has been used to. The students were not yet in class so she settled down to ponder over recent incidents. Ever since she graduated from college, she has been torn between staying back to continue teaching at the orphanage as a kind of sacrifice or following her heart to chase her dreams like her only friend did. She desires giving back to the orphanage that has given her everything including her life and upbringing she is enjoying.
Emily Berth is a 22 year orphan. She was dropped in front of the orphanage at birth and nobody knows anything about her parents. The name she bears, Emily Berth was the name of the Rev. Sister that first saw her crying in the cold outside the door of the orphanage. She
grew up and was schooled in the orphanage. She has been adopted several times but had never been fortunate to belong to any family. The first family that adopted her as a baby, returned her after the woman passed away in a motor accident. The second family adopted her at five years and when they had their own baby, they returned her so she will not fight with their own biological daughter over properties tomorrow. The last family, adopted her at the age of Twelve and she was brought back to the orphanage shortly after breaking her adoptive "father's" head with a wine bottle for trying to molest her sexually. After that both The management of the orphanage and herself decided never to give her up for adoption.
Since then the only home and school she knew was the orphanage till she went to a nearby college where she studied secreterial and office management. She came out tops in her discipline.
Many firms and establishments gave her opportunity to work with them but she was torn between accepting one of the juicy offers and going back to continue working at the orphanage as part of her show of gratitude. Eventually she bowed to her conscience and went back to the orphanage to teach and train other orphans.
Though she opted for teaching in the orphanage, her heart is and has always been in the city and this particular morning, she is not happy. She got another call from her friend at college Sharon who is doing well in the city and is still persuading her to come to the big city and pick a good job. Sharon argues that she will be more useful to the children at the orphanage if she can become successful in life and help them to also make it in life than throwing her life away locked up in the orphanage forever. She reminded Emily that she should either answer the call of becoming a Rev. Sister or explore the world while she is still young and can make it before she gets so old and spend the rest of her life in regrets.
Emily was so broody that she didn't notice the children have all entered the class, each greeted her and took their seats. They were all looking at her in awe and wondering what was troubling her for more than ten minutes till the principal, Rev. Sis Mary entered the class. She cleared her throat and that brought Emily back to the present.
"Emily! What seems to be the problem? It seems you have no intention to teach today?"
"Am am veryyyy, very sorry Sis. I got carried away for a bit."
"Are you sick or is anything troubling you?"
"No! no! am just, am ok really. Everything is just fine."
*Meet me in my office right away!"
"Ok Sister!"
With steady and martia-like step, sis Mary went back to her office to await Emily''s coming.
Emily turned back to the still awed children.
"Sorry! I didn't hear you come in. She apologized."
" She must have been very far away!" Commented one naughty boy
" Maybe she has fallen in love, that is exactly how they are said to behave when they fall in love" commented an even naughtier girl.
